(DM) Spellbound, Story Arc _Z_

Out of her element in Neo-Imaskar, Zaal slowly falls out of the role of Tharchioness and relies on the confidence of the party. She will speak well of her love for Selfaril, how she is a slave to politics, and her sadness at being unable to conceive. She will (hopefully) develop feelings for Rylaun, upon which she cannot act, for she is, after all, a married woman.

Upon the return to Thay and normalcy, the party should be close to or beyond 20th-level. There will be perhaps a short interlude to gain epic status. Then, the bomb will be dropped on dear Zaal.

Once she knows the truth, she will enlist the party to help eliminate the faithless Rassendyl Uomdolphin. The fight is hers alone. She will conjure the power of the Goddess of Shadow. Even a she flenses him, chanting in devotion to the Goddess, tendrils of annihilating darkness will creep from the void to rend his soul, and nullify his eternal essence.

But that will not be enough for the Goddess. Zaal will learn the sinister origins of Rassendyl, and will fill herself with hate for all the Zhentarim. She will seek vengeance on their master, Manshoon, and assault his Citadel of the Raven.

Empowered by the Dark Goddess, her wrath will know no bounds. The party will be forced to choose between the lesser of two evils as Zaal faces Manshoon in the skies above the Citadel. As purple lightning lashes from black clouds against the Citadel, as the great black gauntlet itself manifests to defend the castle, the fate of one of the combatants will be sealed forever.
